Ambassador Maria Cleofe Natividad leads participation of the Philippine Embassy at the 2012 Santacruzan in Berlin organized by the Philippine Parish Pastoral Council under the leadership of Filipino community Chaplain Fr. Simon Boiser. Philippine Ambassador Maria Cleofe R. Natividad led the officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy at the Filipino Community’s annual Santacruzan procession on 17 June 2012.
The Santacruzan, organized by the Philippine Parish Pastoral Council under the leadership of Filipino community Chaplain Fr. Simon Boiser, commenced from the home base of the Filipino Parish community in Bayernallee, the Heilig Geist Kirche (Church of the Holy Ghost) and wound its way around the tree-lined neighborhood of Neu Westend in Berlin, before returning to the front yard of the Heilig Geist Kirche.
Ms. Melissa Pilapil, daughter of Vieto Pilapil, locally-hired personnel of the Philippine Embassy, is Reyna Elena of Santacruzan 2012. The holy procession, a beloved Filipino religious and cultural tradition, was enlivened by the presence of young Filipinas, many of them belonging to the second generation Filipinos in Berlin, who donned colorful Filipiniana gowns. Children of the Embassy staff and officers also participated in the Santacruzan, among them was Melissa Pilapil, and Ambassador Natividad’s daughter, Sophia Natividad.
Ambassador Natividad’s daughter, Sophia, is Reyna de las Flores. The event culminated with a programme of Filipino songs and native dances at the patio of the church, where Ambassador Natividad also delivered her message for the Filipino community.
Ambassador Natividad urged everyone, particularly the second-generation Filipinos in Germany, to continue doing their share in nation-building. Expressing pleasure at seeing the different Filipino organizations in Berlin coming together and putting up the Santacruzan for the benefit of the entire community, Ambassador Natividad urged everyone, particularly the second-generation Filipinos in Germany, to continue doing their share in nation-building. She encouraged the community to contribute to the goals of H.E. President Benigno S. Aquino III in achieving inclusive and sustainable growth. Ambassador Natividad also urged second generation Filipinos in Berlin to constantly nurture and cultivate Filipino values and traditions and sustain their ties to the Philippines. (END)
