Bhutanese Monks learn from Filipino Art Conservationist

20 February 2010- The work of Japan-trained art conservationist Ephraim “Eddie-Boy” Jose, son of novelist Frankie Sionil Jose, an expert on Bhutanese religious art, was celebrated by the foremost East Asia Art Museum in Cologne, Germany with a full house opening ceremony complete with a Buddhist purifying ceremony on 19 February 2010.

23  February 2010- The Philippine Embassy in Berlin  held a briefing for  20 (twenty) students in Germany led by the project officer of the  Haus Rissen’s Institute for Politics and Economics in Hamburg , Mr. Patrick Rosenow, at the Embassy Hall.

Award Winning Film Director Brillante Mendoza in Berlin

Berlin,  09 February 2010 -   Internationally acclaimed award-winning Filipino film Director Brillante Mendoza, a guest of the German Movie and Film Academy  (Deutsche Film-und Fernsehakademie (dffb) and the Cinema Arsenal ( Kino Arsenal)  and Friends of the German Cinema  Film Collection (Freunde der deutschen Kinemathek ),  is in Berlin to open a retrospective of his films at the Cinema Arsenal on  06 February 2010.

End of Green Passport Issuance

Effective 01 April 2010, green passports will no longer be issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs, its regional consular offices, and its Embassies and Consulates abroad.  Even for emergency purposes, only the maroon Machine Readable Passport (MRP) will be issued starting on this date.

"Sehsüchte" 39th International Student Film Festival in Europe

The Embassy of the Philippines in Berlin informs Filipinos in Germany that the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen “Konrad Wolf” is inviting entries to the “sehsüchte”, the 39th International Student Film Festival in Europe to be held in Potsdam-Babelsberg, Germany on 20-25 April 2010.
